Georgie Stokol

Hello fellow darkness lovers!

I am an Australian multidisciplinary artist developing works in oil painting and sculptures created out of glass, metal, and neon. My artistic practice explores transformation and the interplay between light and dark, both conceptually and materially. I draw inspiration from a variety of sources, including: gothic subculture, surrealism, mystical texts, street art, and the natural world. Through these influences, I create arresting and vibrant art, embracing experimental practices.

Since committing to a full-time creative practice in mid-2024, I have exhibited work in Melbourne and Berlin, transitioned from acrylic to oil painting, and expanded my practice to include metal, glass, and neon sculptural forms. In late 2024, I completed a residency at Bervic Engineering, developing steel welding skills, and in 2025 I received the Haymes Foundation Award through the Ballarat Arts Foundation to support studio and practice development. Following feedback from the Foundation’s grant panel, I am further developing my skills in glassblowing and neon processes.

I am currently developing a major exhibition for Art Space Ballarat in 2028, which will be the first of my career in bringing together my paintings and sculpture to create an immersive realm. My aim is to create large-scale, immersive spaces – installations that tell a story through form, light and sound, inviting viewers into dreamlike spaces to reflect on transformation and release.
